Overview
Email Capture (WPiko AI Chatbot Pro) asks visitors for their name and email before they start chatting. Conversations are then linked to a real contact, so you can follow up and export the emails.
Setting Up Email Capture
- Go to WPiko AI Chatbot → Leads & Sales → Email Capture.
- Under Capture settings, turn on Enable email capture.
- Optionally change the texts under Customizable text (see below).
- Click Save Email Capture Settings.
Requires an active Pro license.
Customizable Texts
Every text in the email capture popup can be changed, for example to translate it:
| Setting | Default |
|---|---|
| Email capture title | Enter your details to get started |
| Email capture description | Please provide your name and email to start chatting with our AI assistant. |
| Name field placeholder | Enter your name |
| Email field placeholder | Enter your email |
| Button text | Continue |
| Validation error message | Please check your input and try again. |
| Change email menu text | Change Email |
How It Works
- New guests see the popup and enter their name and email before the chat starts.
- Returning guests aren’t asked again. Their details are remembered in their browser, and they can use Change Email in the chat menu.
- Logged-in WordPress users skip the popup. Their account details are used automatically.
- With Proactive Greeting: if a visitor types into the greeting’s quick message box, the chat opens with the email capture step first, then sends their message.
Collected emails appear in Monitor → Conversations. Export them from the Download emails card there as a CSV with name, number of conversations and first and last contact, for all time or for contacts active in the last 7, 30 or 90 days.
Privacy
- Explain in the description why you ask for an email, and link your privacy policy.
- Only use the emails for the purpose you told visitors about, and follow email marketing laws such as GDPR.
- Delete a visitor’s conversations when they ask, or use Automatic cleanup in Conversations.
Troubleshooting
- The popup doesn’t appear: check that your license is active and Enable email capture is on. You won’t see it while logged in. Test in a private window.
- The validation message shows: both fields are required and the email must be valid.
- Changes don’t show: clear your caching plugin and browser cache.
